The Rise of Elite Affiliation by: Dot Dot
Up and coming hip-hop/ d-funk, duo Wood Zombie and D.E.Z. is in the process of taking the Detroit area by storm with their much anticipated album, Hieroglyphic Nectar. Hieroglyphic Nectar is a controversial album bringing attention to social injustice, historic value, and everyday life in the "D".
Wood Zombie is Elite Affiliation's (EA), premiere hip hop recording artist. Born and raised on Detroit's west side, he has first hand experience about life in the D and how to cope. He describes him self as, "Poetic, floetic, real, truthful, controversial, and analytically raw."
Producer D.E.Z., also born and raised on Detroit's west side, produces majority of the compositions used by Wood Zombie and other EA artist.
When asked, "What sets you apart from other producers?"
His response. "They all doing the same shit to me I guess, I mean I just create what comes to my head. I listen to people but I really don't follow a certain style. My compositions are influenced by Bernie Worrell, Sun Ra, Aston Barrett, George Clinton, Scott Storch and of course Dr. Dre."
They have worked with local Detroit artist such as Atoms and Ease, Will See, and Hollow Boyz to name a few. They also have worked with DJ Meftah, and the biggest DJ in Chile, DJ Dacel.
Although they are young and fresh to the game, their ambition and drive is higher than ever. But don't get confused, EA is larger than just this dynamic duo, Huey Rock, E Baby, Pharoah Soul, Nanyamka are also under this up and coming faction of talent.
